Labor Day Family Weekend
We Are The Ones We Have Been Waiting For:
The Virtues of Transformation with Linda and Dan Popov Register
Dr. Dan Popov and Linda Kavelin Popov will speak about the power of the Baha’i revelation to ignite global change, and how to engage in the soul work based on Shoghi Effendi’s teaching that “One thing and only one thing will unfailingly” create this change – “the extent to which our own inner life and private character” mirrors forth the Revelation of Baha’u’llah.
As the Hopi prophecy goes, ”We are the ones we have been waiting for”. This course includes virtues-based strategies for personal and global transformation.

Baha'i Network on AIDS, Sexuality, Addictions, and Abuse
Annual Conference Register
This year the Baha’i Network on AIDS, Sexuality, Addictions and Abuse (BNASAA) is holding its annual conference at Bosch Bahá'í School from Thursday evening, September 9 to Sunday noon, September 12, 2010.
The objective of BNASAA conferences is to promote healing and growth related to personally sensitive issues in an atmosphere of love, trust, respect, and confidentiality. Our goals include: creating an environment for participants to advance together in the unfoldment of their personal transformation, consulting on ways to become more active agents in community life, and to explore ways to promote community building that offers a wider, more loving, embrace during humanity's hour of need.
This year’s program includes artistic and uplifting presentations, keynote plenary speakers, group activities of sharing and support, humorous relief, and elective participatory sessions that explore issues around such topics as HIV/AIDS, addictions, sexuality, gender, and sexual orientation, and childhood and partner abuse. The program is open to individuals struggling with any of these challenging personal issues, as well as family members, friends, health practitioners, and other concerned individuals.
Workshops topics will include "Recovery and Beyond", "Drawing upon the power of the Creative Word for healing and growth", "Identity and Same Sex Attraction."
A special plenary session will also feature a study of Paul Lample's book, Revelation and Social Reality, with a focus on how the experiences of BNASAA participants can be used in the consultative process, the action process, and the reflection process to bring a greater understanding to the general Baha'i community of the challenges and possible solutions to those challenges when the "walking wounded" from the world come to the Baha'is for help. BNASAA participants can become leaders in providing resources to the Baha'i community as the community is faced with new enrollments and the need for greater exposure to the kinds of personal issues that confront and wound the souls of many.
Because of the nature of the conference, we require that attendees be present for and participate in the entire conference from beginning to end. We ask that everyone arrange their travel plans so that they can arrive by Thursday evening and stay through lunch on Sunday. No one will be allowed to join the program after the beginning of the opening circle at 9 a.m. on Friday morning. An attitude of "observer" is also not appropriate for this type of experience. If you have questions about your participation, please contact a conference planner prior to committing to travel arrangements. We sincerely hope you feel welcome to contribute to this memorable and transformative weekend.

10/15/10 - 10/17/10
Junior Youth: Environmental Stewards, Champions of Justice
Register
Peter Adriance, Ariane Bertrand
During this special weekend designed for junior youth, we will explore the themes of justice and environmental stewardship, and increase our capacity and sense of commitment to act for the wellbeing of humanity and the Earth. We will immerse ourselves in the Writings and join in creative and interactive learning exercises -- both indoors and out – gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural world, our place in it and our impact on it. We will draw inspiration not only from the Writings but from exposure to the natural surroundings at the school and actual stories of youth who became champions of sustainability. At the end of the weekend we will return home armed with ideas and energy for translating our learning into acts of service and stewardship in the Bahá'í community and beyond.
Music Industry
10/21/10 - 10/24/10
Music Industry Weekend
Register
Hosted and coordinated by Darrell Rodgers
As The Baha'i Faith rises from obscurity to prominence, it is important that Baha'i musicians are willing and equipped can share the Faith through their art; that they be prepared with both the knowledge of the Writings and the knowledge of their craft, in order to distinguish themselves both morally and professionally from the mass of humankind yet unaware of the Manifestation of God for this age.
Musicians of conscience understand that theirs is a uniquely powerful art form. Music can engender emotions and stir people to action. Because such stirrings can be either degrading or divine, it is vitally important that Baha'i musicians remain ever mindful of their tremendous responsibility to strive continually for improvement in both their craft and character.
Music Industry Weekend is a gathering of Baha'i musicians and musicians of similar spiritual awareness wherein they can learn from each other, establish friendships, and share their talents and experiences.

Spiritual Education of Children - A Requisite of Community Building, Concern for the spiritual education of children has long been an element of the culture of the Bahá’í community, and now every cluster with an intensive program of growth is asked to further systematize the provision of spiritual education to increasing numbers of children, from families of many backgrounds. How does one translate this vision into reality? How does one start a neighborhood children’s class, and how do we keep this going, with the required degree of regularity, year after year? How do we invite others to accompany us in this path of service? Explore this process in an action-oriented weekend, developing practical skills, sharing resources and reflecting on experiences with teachers who are working in the field, offering systematic classes, open to all. |
